This is a great tried and true balsa ARF, great value!

I've owned a couple iterations of this model Branded by Ripmax and Hobby Lobby in the early 2000's, It weasproduced in the same factory as World Models if Im not mistaken. Easy build scale flyer on 300-400w. You'll need an outrunner that has the shaft coming through the rear of the outrunner. The be ll spins inside the cowl, behind the firewall. It was designed for 15cc glow and we used inrunners with a low KV and larger prop to convert it electric.

But the VMAR Spit is a great flyer with all the good and bad habits of the real spit (i.e needs power on landing; will stall in low speed turns). I did the most damage my forst two my flying it to the LVC and trying to land dead stick.

Covering is BEAUTIFUL. Belly landing will break eventually break spars and
tear heat shrink covering; it's awesome printed monokote with all the marking printed/painted (no decals).

This is a fly off the pavement club plane that will last years flown by an experienced pilot and cared for during storage and transportation. The fact that this my third one since 2005 speaks volumes.

Really fast shipping, well packed, and arrived undamaged. It is a good looking aircraft, and I am looking forward to finishing the build this winter.

Fun kit but not the greatest instructions. No mention of thrust , down or right. Maybe not for the beginner. I didn’t keep it electric but I probably over sized the engine. I don’t know how she will fly but I do like the airplane very much.

The picture on the box looks impressive and I couldn't wait to open it. The covering looked as good as the picture. Inspecting the parts the latch holding the hatch in place was not glue in correctly and there was a little bit of wood damage. It was easily repairable. I dry fitted the wing panel into the fuselage to bet a look at the plane. The first wing slide onto the aluminum tube easily but the second required quite a bit of force to slide into place. The directions claim each wing panel is held in place with a single screw. I think a will glue them together permanently when I get to that step. I accidently poked a hole it a lower wing panel and now the covering is ruined. I decided to strip the covering from the entire model and recover it with Ultracote before I assemble it. It is now recovered. The control surfaces are installed and I am waiting on a motor. I found one former in the fuselage very loose and another piece near the vertical stabilizer. Other than that I am happy with the construction of the model and am eager to see how it flies. I would rate it as a 3.5 right now, but for the money I still think it was a good deal.

Great value balsa kit!

I prefer balsa and ply over foam and this ARF EP1300 Spitfire 1.2 meter kit is excellent! Very nice packaging and a very well fitted, thick external box was used over the kit box. I have opened the kit to inventory and inspect all parts and it is excellent construction and quality. I'm saving this one for the summer flying, so it will be a spring assembly. I would definitely buy this one again and may add some of the other VMAR ARF models to my hangar.

Overall a poor quality kit with poor instructions. The landing gear is useless unless epoxied in. One of the wings would not fit onto the fuselage and required a lot of trimming that is visible from the outside. I contacted heli direct with no response about return or replacement.
