Look Ma, I'm flying!

I've been learning to fly RC helicopters on and off since the mid 80's. Mostly off, because crashing is a lot easier than flying! These new GPS helis make it so much easier to learn how to fly, and the FW200 is probably the top contender in this size bird. It's a rock solid flyer that gives you that extra margin of control to make learning enjoyable. Get into a jam, release the sticks, and it pretty much nails in place in the sky. It really is nothing short of amazing how fast it stops and settles into a perfect hover. Learning to reverse your controls during nose in hovering is where it really shines because that stability gives you the extra time you need when you make the wrong input. It's a lot more enjoyable to practice when your helicopter works so hard to keep you from wrecking it. It's just muscle memory, but you have to do it many times before it becomes natural, and this little chopper gives you that time. I've learned more in one week then I have in 40 years, and have even begun flying forward and backwards circles and figure eights, something that I was never able to do before. One little tip; it's common for these GPS helis to lose the GPS signal. if you are flying and that happens, don't panic and hit the STOP switch, just flip the three position flight control switch from Stable to Manual and then bring the heli down slowly. Also, if you are flying the heavier 1500 mah battery and you can't seem to get enough altitude, use the app to change the head speed for Stable from 55% to 70%. It flies a lot better in Stable at that setting.

My go to heli...

I've crashed a lot of stuff in my years but this one always comes back home with me happy. I don't have to worry about wind spoiling the day and if I want more excitement I can turn off GPS. Its easy to work on too. I'm in love.

So easy to fly!

I love this thing. I've been crashing helis for years but you have to try hard to smash this thing but even if you do it is so easy to fix!

Fly Wing FW200

This is my first Electric GPS Helicopter since the 1980's. I am very happy with the new GPS technology for stable flight. I could never master forward flight with my Nitro powered helicopters with 80's technology. I could barely hover and crash. Sold them to my RC friends who were more skilled in helicopters.
I recently got into drones, this flies very similar. I am in my mid 60's and this FW200 has checked off an item on my bucket list and inverted flight as well!
I only have about 8 flights on her and on the last flight it was giving me issues with copter not maintaining altitude with the 1500 battery when getting low voltage near the end of battery flight due to the extra weight of the 1500 battery. The 850 batteries had no issue. I also live in Imperial Valley California and it was getting hot at 10am. The air density changed real quick and I noticed the copter losing altitude in Stable mode. After landing it, it would not take off more than a few inches off the ground. It would only work in Acro mode, which has a higher rotor head speed.
I used the APP Adjust via Bluetooth to adjust the rotor head speed from 55/65/100 to 66/76/100 and it really made a difference. I also adjusted the Pitch, -11/0/+11 which worked out well.
The FW200 is very quiet and is ideal for park flying.

Great seller, strange helicopter.

I received the latest version of the FW200 and it arrived very quickly. In hover mode and before satellites were connected, the helicopter would barely take off. Using the app, instead of adjusting pitches I increased the hover mode head speed from 50 to 70 and it solved the problem. In acro mode, the forward flight is not very fast so I increased the acro head speed from 70 to 82 but it did not make any difference. I am not a 3d flyer so I cannot evaluate that setting. The copter flips inverted without issue. It only uses about 50% of the battery and then it automatically lands. This is almost too easy to fly, but, I have found a good use for it.....my 6 year old grandson is flying it.

It’s got issues but got potential

It was fine for the first few flights. It started developing issues. The flashing green light before gps lock turned wacky. I saw purple and pink flashing lights. There is also a high/low tone that lasts until motor is spooled up. Twice the cyclic input small forward movement as the motor spooled up. It resulted in uncommanded forward flight. I was able to shut the motor down and it skipped in. There was no cyclic response with my inputs. The third was a full back cyclic as it reached maximum motor spool up. The was no response to my full forward input. It cause a lot of damage because I forgot to shut the motor down. I replaced the gps unit, the FCU, tail motor, swash plate, main shaft, motor nut,all blades and tail boom. I still have problems before gps lock. The high/low tone but no wacky lights. The main motor doesn’t start in normal mode. I have to the flick switch between normal and manual mode before it starts. The swash plate jitters when in normal mode as the motor spools up. In manual mode there is no jittering. I installed a Spektrum satellite rx but still have the problems. I also notice that the motor spools down with a few seconds of delay. It is not in the Spektrum programming. I believe there is a flaw in programming or hardware. No help online. Flywing does not answer queries. I invested heavily into spare and aftermarket parts. I would like to see this through to the end.

First Rc helicopter

The FW200 is my first rc helicopter. I purchased it because of the gps hoping it would make the learning curve a little easier. It has been great for learning and is great excitement! Made me get another one but it's a coast guard gps helicopter. Wish I would have tried helicopters sooner:)

Faulty unit received.

Unfortunately the helicopter arrived with an issue, and Helidirect refuses to exchange. I will never buy from that company again.
