Awesome servos! So fast and strong. Brushless is the way to go. You really need to get the programmer to properly program them. The soft start is a nice feature.
I used these in a kraken 580 build and one failed on the third flight resulting in a crash. Quite luckily the heli ended up inverted as I tried to bring it down and it landed on the rotor with minimal damage.
The servo motor pinion came loose from the shaft, this is what failed. Helidirect got a new one sent to me at a discounted price right away the next morning. They are on the ball with customer support. I called KST about the servo and they said they couldn't warranty it since it was not purchased from them. I will continue to use KST servos regardless because they are great for the price and helidirect is a great business.
A powerful servo that can be used in 550 class helis no problem. Super quick and tons of tork great for hard core 3d flying.
I’ve used KST’s in my last two 3D planes. I flew 500 flights on a EF 60” NG. Although I sold the plane. Servos still centered well, gears had little perceivable wear. This time I went brushless. KST are very smooth and quiet. No flutter or searching for center at neutral
Haven’t flown them yet, but they can work at 760us pulse.
I had Torq minis on my 12s kraken 580 and they did fine but for a helo with this kind of weight and swinging 580 blades instead of 570, they seemed pushed to their limit when flying hard 3D. When Torq/kst came out with the brushless minis with the torque just barely under a fullsize, I couldn’t resist. I have to say they have made a good size difference. Hard stops and snappy moves are just more precise and predictable. They are super strong. I would definitley recommend going with these as they are still much lighter then a full size with just as much torque.
